Introducing Eye
Eye is a small town with a population of just over2,000 and one of the happiest places to live in the UK as Babergh and Mid Suffolk districts top survey says. If you live in the Mid Suffolk or Babergh districts you are some of the happiest, healthiest and most prosperous people in the UK, according to a new survey. It lies close to the River Waveney, which forms the border with Norfolk, and on the River Dove. Eye is twinned with the town of Pouzauges in the Vendée department of France.
Eye is a pretty little town with a mixture of architectural styles and include Italianate Town Hall, built in 1857, with a clock tower used for locking up local criminals! There is the remains of the old Castle with superb views of the surrounds from the top and which looks over the Guildhall.
Almost situated in the centre of East Anglia, Norwich is16 miles, Ipswich is 32 miles and Bury St Edmunds 32 miles. There are regular bus services to the surrounding areas together with mainline railway station at Diss on the Norwich to London Liverpool Street line.
